About the Kids Autism Hub

The Kids Autism Hub was commissioned by NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board, NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board.

It was commissioned after an open tender process in 2022. The specification given in the tender was to “design, develop, digitise and pilot implementation of two psychoeducational resources, across Essex, Southend, and Thurrock. These will be evidence-based therapeutic interventions, that provide information and support to better understand and cope with autism.”

One service is for young autistic people, the other is for the parents and carers of those young people.

The service is commissioned to run from April 2024 to March 2026 with a three month evaluation at the end of that period.

Access criteria

During co-production we agreed with commissioners that access criteria would be:

  • People aged 12 to 25, resident within Essex, Southend or Thurrock,  who have newly received a diagnosis of autism or who are on the diagnosis pathway.
  • The parents, carers, siblings, or grandparents of those young people.

Referral and sign-up

To access the Autism Hub users have two options. They can refer themselves by filling out our self-referral form which can be found here. Alternatively they can be referred by an autism professional in the NHS or education.

To refer someone professionals give the young person or parent a leaflet supplied by Kids that contains a sign-up link.

Young people and parents use the link to sign themselves up on the service website.
